Miss LUCOL and her RECYCLING ART

Last Monday ( 25 November 2024 ), a visual artist, Mrs. Lucol, came to meet us at the library.  During her presentation, we engaged in discussions, and she introduced us to her art and what she does with waste materials…

… Her works focus on reusing waste and giving materials a second life. She showed us some of her creations, including one called Infinity, which involves the assembling of cans. Later, she explained the steps to handle materials and understand the separation and reuse of non-organic waste. Her art is centered on the enhancement of discarded objects. She also spoke about her travels, where she found inspiration, and advised us to visit English-speaking countries to improve our English.

During the hands-on activity with cans, we shaped small objects that resembled earrings or Christmas tree ornaments. Khaël

I recently met Madam Lucol, an artist who transforms recycled objects into original creations. She uses materials such as plastic, metal, or fabric to create useful or decorative objects, giving them a new life.

Through her work, she demonstrates ecological awareness. She aims to raise awareness of the importance of recycling while showing how much beauty can come from what is often discarded. This inspired me and made me reflect on the impact of recycling on the environment and society. Mathis

On Monday 25 November 2024 we had the pleasure to meet a visual artist Mrs.LUCOL. She presented all of her works , and she told us the whole procedure and the materials required to carry out her artistic works. She only uses recycled materials to give them a second life and to avoid overconsumption. Behind all of her works there is a cause to denouce or to defend . She usally exposed them in public so that people notice them and become aware of them.

After her presentation , she made us participate in one of her production processes. Which consisted of cutting the bottom of a can to recover the base. With this base you can make earrings, christmas ball or even key rings. I like this intervention because , It made me realise that everything deserves a second life to shine a little more. On Monday, November 25, 2024, we had the pleasure of meeting a visual artist, Mrs. LUCOL. This one builds and manufactures a lot of things (walls, jewelry, decorations,…) from recycled  objects (soda cans, bottles, fabrics,…).
After her studies, when she returned to Guadeloupe, this plastic artist said «no longer recognize her island». Indeed, pollution is growing more and more not making life
any better. We cannot estimate the time of creation of an object since as Mrs. LUCOL said :  “When you like to do something you don’t count the time you spend there”.

Also, not counting time allows you not to get discouraged. The time to gather all the material, to cut it in order to recover the part to work, towork more than fifty times the recycled material  since there are several and finally assemble it makes it often takes several years before you can hold one of these creations in your hands.

After talking with this artist, we were able to try our hand at the task. From the bottom of two soda cans (same size) we made objects that can be used as jewelry.
It was an amazing and enriching experience showing us once again that most things in our daily lives can have a second life. Lesly

During this simple hour of explanation with her, I learned a lot about selective sorting and ecology quite simply. I thank her for taking the time to come to the high school to be able to teach us a sample of her know-how that she is passionate about.

I really admire the time she puts into each of these works and the enormous patience she has for her work and for us, the students. Noé

We had a session with a visual artist who introduced us to her work and profession. She showed us some of her creations and talked about her career path, her interests, and what inspired her to become a visual artist. She particularly focuses on creativity and working with recycled materials.

After her presentation, she guided us through a hands-on activity. We created a Christmas ornament using aluminum cans. The task involved cutting, assembling, and decorating the pieces to craft a unique design. It was a creative and enjoyable way to work with everyday materials. This experience gave us valuable insight into the work of a visual artist while allowing us to explore our own creativity through an inspiring activity. Andreas
